Abstract
Ovaj rad razrađuje temu uspješnosti i neuspješnosti mirovnih misija. Počevši od Lige naroda, koja nije uspjela u svom naumu održanja mira i sprječavanja sukoba, pa do osnutka nove organizacije – Ujedinjenih naroda. Povelja Ujedinjenih naroda, kao temeljni dokument, detaljno, a najviše kroz VI i VII poglavlje, predviđa rješavanje sporova i očuvanje mira. Kroz primjere nekoliko mirovnih misija u svijetu i na području Republike Hrvatske raspravlja se o (ne)uspješnosti mirovnih misija na temelju poglavlja Povelje. Raspravlja se i o konceptu uvođenja humanitarnih intervencija, odnosno upotrebi sile s ciljem zaštite i očuvanja ljudskih prava. Koliko su mirovne misije u poratnom razdoblju uspjele očuvati mir i stabilnost zemlje ovisi o više parametara, a to su: strategija, mandat i cjelokupni plan misije.
