Abstract
Vijeće Europe važna je institucija u području zaštite ljudskih prava. To je najstarija europska organizacija sa sjedištem u Strasbourgu. Osnovni cilj ove institucije jest jačanje suradnje i jedinstva u Europi, promicanje ljudskih prava i temeljnih sloboda, te demokracije i vladavine prava. Također, Vijeće Europe bavi se i drugim društvenim područjima, kao socijalna isključenost, nacionalna, rasna i druga netrepeljivost, zaštita prava djece, problemi diskriminacije i drugo. Slobode čovjeka i univerzalne vrijednosti u centru su zaštite ljudskih prava i sloboda. Konvencija za zaštitu ljudskih prava i temeljnih sloboda ima vrlo važnu ulogu u svom predmetnom području. Konvencijom se države članice Vijeća Europe obvezuju osigurati zaštitu temeljnih građanskih i političkih prava i sloboda.
Abstract (english)
The Council of Europe is an important institution in the field of human rights protection. It is the oldest European organization based in Strasbourg. The main goal of this institution is to strengthen cooperation and unity in Europe, to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms, and democracy and the rule of law. The Council of Europe also deals with other areas of society, such as social exclusion, national, racial and other intolerance, protection of children's rights, discrimination and others. Human freedoms and universal values are at the heart of the protection of human rights and freedoms. The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms plays a very important role in its subject area. The Convention commits the member states of the Council of Europe to ensure the protection of fundamental civil and political rights and freedoms.
