The development of local self-government dates back to the 7th and 8th centuries, when the first primitive territorial organizations began to appear, which were organized according to the principle of hierarchy. Today, local self-government is regulated by a number of legal regulations, and according to the "old" model it is organized in the form of a pyramid. In addition to bylaws in the Republic of Croatia, local self-government is regulated by the Law on Local and Regional Self-Government. In the final paper, local self-government was analyzed on the example of the City of Trilj, so in the same case the city administration of Trilj was analyzed, within which three main departments were established: Administrative Department of General Affairs of Local Self-Government and Social Activities, Administrative Department of Finance, Economy and EU Funds and Administrative Department for Physical Planning, Property and Legal Affairs, Communal Protection and Environmental Protection. In addition to the previously mentioned, the strategic development program for the period until 2016 to 2020 was analyzed, ie the vision and strategic goals and priorities.
