UNESCO is a specialized organization of the United Nations for education, science and culture. It was founded in London in 1945. The headquarters of the Organization is in Paris, and there are 50 regional offices and centers throughout the world. The fundamental act of the Organization is the Constitution, which prescribes the Organization's goals, internal structure, membership, financing and other important issues. The main goal of the Organization is to contribute to peace and security through cooperation with nations in the field of education, science and culture. This is how they want to enable respect for justice, human rights and fundamental freedoms. This organization has great importance at the world level. Member states of the United Nations, as well as non-member states, may accede to the Organization following the procedure specified in the Constitution of the Organization. Member states meet every two years at a General Conference where they agree on the basic guidelines for further action.
