Abstract
Predsjednik Republike Hrvatske bira se na mandat od pet godina, a prilikom izbora Predsjednika Republike Hrvatske mogu sudjelovati svi graĎani stariji od 18 godina, odnosno iskoristiti svoje biračko pravo propisano Ustavom Republike Hrvatske. Drugim riječima, Predsjednik Republike Hrvatske bira se na temelju općeg i jednakog biračkog prava na neposrednim izborima tajnim glasovanjem. Položaj i nadležnosti Predsjednika Republike Hrvatske propisane su Ustavom Republike Hrvatske, a izbori za Predsjednika Republike Hrvatske ureĎeni su Ustavom RH te relevantnim zakonskim i podzakonskim propisima. Predsjednik Republike Hrvatske je vrhovni zapovjednik oružanih snaga Republike Hrvatske, a sukladno ustavnim odredbama može u vrijeme rata donositi i uredbe za zakonskom snagom i druge akte. U Republici Hrvatskoj (od osamostaljenja do danas) bilo je ukupno pet predsjednika: Franjo TuĎman, Stjepan Mesić, Ivo Josipović, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović i aktualni Predsjednik Republike Hrvatske Zoran Milanović.
Abstract (english)
The President of the Republic of Croatia is elected for a term of five years, and all citizens over the age of 18 may participate in the election of the President of the Republic of Croatia, i.e. exercise their voting right prescribed by the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia. In other words, the President of the Republic of Croatia is elected on the basis of universal and equal suffrage in direct elections by secret ballot. The powers and competencies of the President of the Republic of Croatia are stipulated in the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, and elections for the President of the Republic of Croatia are prescribed by relevant laws and bylaws. The President of the Republic of Croatia is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, and in accordance with constitutional provisions he may also issue decrees on legal force and other acts during the war. In the Republic of Croatia (from gaining independence until today) there were a total of five presidents: Franjo TuĎman, Stjepan Mesić, Ivo Josipović, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and the current President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović.
