The amendments to the Law on Compulsory Traffic Insurance from 2023 reflect the efforts of the Republic of Croatia to improve road safety, enhance the protection of victims' rights, and increase the efficiency of the insurance system. Increasing minimum insurance amounts, strengthening the rights of injured parties, and regulating new forms of transportation are key steps toward a more modern and equitable traffic insurance system. These amendments aim to strengthen the protection of the rights of policyholders and victims of traffic accidents while aligning domestic legislation with European directives. To increase system efficiency, a special focus has been placed on speeding up and simplifying procedures for claiming compensation, reducing processing times, and introducing stricter penalties for uninsured vehicles. This provides greater protection for users and aligns domestic legislation with European standards, contributing to greater safety and legal equality in traffic throughout the Republic of Croatia. Emphasis has also been placed on improving procedures related to compensation claims, increasing transparency in the work of insurance companies, and introducing digitalization into the insurance system.
